HOW IT STARTED
Citylight Lincoln Church was planted in 2016 with a prayer to see Lincoln deeply impacted by the Gospel and moved to go make disciples from our neighborhoods to the nations. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus promises to build His church and we've been able to watch Him do that! We know that every story we celebrate, every disciple made, every city group multiplied, every church planted, is all by His grace & for His glory (Psalm 115:1)
JESUS MULTIPLIED
Ephesians 3:20 says that God "is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think" and wow, have we seen this truth! Since 2016, over FIVE HUNDRED people have been baptized, we have gotten to be a part of planting SEVEN new churches, and we've sent missionaries to some of the most unreached places in the world. Our City Groups continue to multiply and saturate new neighborhoods & networks in our city. Jesus is building His church!

The Story of our space
THE LEAD UP
The struggle of space for our church body, since the beginning, has been such a breathtaking way we have seen the Lord at work! Truly, it's the best "problem" one could ever hope for! Here are some of the checkpoints in this journey, each one pointing to God's goodness & glory.
2016
CITYLIGHT LINCOLN PLANTS
For our very first gathering, we put out every chair we had! In faith, we believed God was bringing His people. That same gathering became standing room only!
2017
THE BUILDING ON 18 & O
We actually toured our current building years ago, but God had not opened that door yet! The location and the size were perfect — but the price was too high!
2018/19/20
WE PLANT 3 CHURCHES
We didn't have the seating capacity our church had grown to need, but we did have sending capacity! Throughout these years we planted South, North & FoCo!
2023
CLKIDS ADDS ROOMS
Over two years, our kids ministry had tripled and our space no longer sufficed! So, we added more walls to the CLKids area to "multiply" our room numbers!

SALT MEETS IN THE ROCOCO
We soon realized our college ministry had outgrown our sanctuary! So, they relocated, and had more than 1100 students in attendance on the first night!

WE BEGIN 4 GATHERINGS
As our church family grew, our three gathering could not longer hold everyone! So, we knew it was time to go to four — 8, 9:15, 10:30 & 11:45am!

We put in a $2 million offer on a building that was worth $8 million, and they accepted it!
An utter miracle.
Within just a couple of months we raised $2 million by the absolute grace of Jesus. We could buy the building!
After months of our church rallying to demo the new building, it was officially time for renovations to begin!
We sold our old building! In the most beautiful way, God orchestrated an international church buying our space.
It was time! We had our first Sunday in the new space! New building, same family, same almighty Savior.
WHERE WE'RE GOING
Our heartbeat for our family, in whatever space we're in, has always been to direct our goals towards sending capacity, not seating capacity. Our vision is that this season we are in would be marked by people equipped to go out to their networks, reach & disciple the next generation, be sent out with new church plants, and realize the call to reach the unreached is shared by the body!
